was inside. that was the store's owner, jim butler. they got into an altercation inside the business and philip was eventually shot. philip eventually collapsed in the parking lot. he had been having difficulties with people breaking into the stores and this time he happened to be there when it happened. philip had a vast criminal record including theft and various drug offenses. so far no charges have been filed in this case. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> there were two separate christmas day shootings. what happened on druid park lake drive. officers found a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. no word as to a suspect or a possible motive. there's a shooting in west baltimore. and now was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body. no word this morning on his condition. we have an update on a christmas eve double shooting in east baltimore. one of the victims has been identified. he was shot multiple times and later died at the hospital. a second victim walked into a local hospital with gunshot wounds to her stomach. she is expected to recover. >> president obama is c

on the fiscal cliff, some tea partiers seem ready to compromise on taxes. here's jim acosta. >> reporter: for the tea party, change is brewing on capitol hill. florida republican alan west who rode the tea party wave in congress two years ago only to be swept out in november has already lost its office which is being prepped by painters for its new occupant. >> they say he's an outsider, a reformer. >> reporter: another tea partier, kansas congressman tim huleskamp, was booted from his seat on the budget committee he believes to john boehner wanted to send a message, to get in line for a deal on the fiscal cliff. >> we have determine thursday is some secret scorecard. a scorecard which based on testimony votes -- >> reporter: i think there's house -- >> i think there's potentially i hope not to push a tax increase through the house, and we will see what happens. >> reporter: while the speaker denied he's bringing down the hammer, stating in a letter that "there is no scorecard," -- >> stop spending now! stop spending now! >> reporter: it's clear, tea partiers are not rallying to shut dow
-- on a no tax increase on anybody. >> that's right, which is why boehner pulled the plug, jim, you'll recall, on that vote, which was supposed to be a show vote to put the pressure on the president to draw the line at a million. when he realized he didn't have a majority of the republicans, he didn't go forward. what this is now is an old school where you have a bipartisan society, where boehner would be asked to permit a vote, even if he knew most republicans would vote no. it's humiliating for a speaker, especially in this milieu, in the world we live in now. it would set up boehner to maybe lose the speakership when the vote is taken in the house for that on january 3rd. it would certainly mean a fight. you would have paul ryan, cantor saying, wait a minute, this guy forced a vote we didn't want to take, but that's what the president is trying to get boehner to do. give me a few republicans, says boim bhoim, i'll deliver democrats, i'll deliver senate and sign the bill and save 97% of americans from a tax hike. boehner might not be able to do it or might refuse to do it. that's the next s

jim ramstead and patrick kennedy talking about being in recovery, and the fact that good people get this disease. it's a bad disease. but good people get it and successful people get it and we can recover. >> as she mentioned, we talked about it in the past, it's been a disease that men have battled. what is it you think people will be able take away from the documentary to open their eyes to the problem at hand? >> well, i think two-fold. one, this stigma, it is interesting that for mothers in particular, there's this idea in our society that we should be perfect and on all the time. i think there is a real harsh judgment against women that might pick up a drink to cope and before they know it, this disease really grabs them. i think that's one thing. and i also think understanding the psychological pressures that women are under nowadays is very, very key. seeing that in our sisters and our mothers and our friends and our children, being able to understand more and deal with it with compassion and sympathy instead of judgment. >> the movie will be premiering here in the d.c. area.
